CAPABILITY MAP
Nine Competencies, Three Disciplines, One Evidence Trail
Commercial Finance
Commercial Finance & Business Partnering
I translate raw commercial data into decisions the wider business can act on, not just numbers finance teams file away. At DashboardWorx, a boutique analytics consultancy, I've partnered with 20+ clients across financial services and commercial sectors, turning financial data into performance reporting and decision support they could act on directly. That partnering extended to presenting trading performance trends and operational recommendations directly to commercial stakeholders and executives across those engagements, and to monthly budget-versus-actuals analysis with variance commentary that gave buyers and the merchandise team direct visibility into expenditure control. The result was a finance function clients actually consulted before decisions were made, not one they reported to after the fact.
Budgeting & Forecasting
Forecast accuracy is the metric I hold myself to. I developed integrated revenue and expenditure forecasting models at DashboardWorx that lifted forecast accuracy by 40%, while surfacing risks and opportunities across the commercial domain through automated planning structures. Earlier, at Tana Water Works Development Agency, I supported budget preparation and forward expenditure estimates across donor-funded infrastructure programmes financed by the African Development Bank. Whether the audience is an ASX-listed retailer or an international development funder, the discipline is the same: build a forecast that survives contact with reality.
Variance & Margin Analysis
Numbers only matter once someone can explain why they moved. My variance analysis work at DashboardWorx paired budget-versus-actuals reporting with margin analysis that supported evidence-based investment decisions across financial services and commercial clients. I applied the same rigour to pricing analysis, using SQL and Power BI to accelerate turnaround by 95% without sacrificing accuracy. That combination, speed and explanation, is what makes variance analysis useful to a business rather than just accurate.
Data Engineering
Power BI Dashboard Development
A dashboard only earns its place if someone opens it twice. My Power BI expertise runs to DAX and semantic modelling, not just visuals, building interactive dashboards that make complex financial data accessible to non-technical stakeholders. At DashboardWorx, I designed dashboards that accelerated pricing analysis and reporting turnaround by 95%, while improving data integrity across multiple source systems. That same discipline shaped a Woolworths Everyday Rewards loyalty KPI dashboard for Sydney stores, built during my time at The Data Analytics Institute. I also work in Tableau where a client's existing stack calls for it, but the discipline of designing for daily use rather than one-off viewing stays the same regardless of tool.
SQL & ETL Pipeline Engineering
Clean data upstream saves everyone time downstream. I bring a strong command of SQL and Power Query to cleaning, structuring and connecting data sources into reliable, automated reporting pipelines. At DashboardWorx, I designed SQL ETL pipelines that improved multi-source data integrity, feeding directly into the Power BI dashboards commercial teams relied on daily. That pipeline work sat behind a 60% reduction in month-end reporting effort, achieved through automated accrual journal preparation and reconciliation workflows. Engineering the pipeline properly is what makes the automation downstream possible at all.
Python-Driven Predictive Analytics
Prediction is only useful when the model is honest about its own uncertainty. Through my Master of Financial Analysis at La Trobe University, I built credit risk classification models using logistic regression and random forests, and applied algorithmic trading and robo-advising techniques to live financial decision problems. I bring the same Python-based analytical rigour to commercial contexts, using predictive analytics to support workforce planning and long-term organisational strategy at DataCareer App. The goal is always a model a non-technical stakeholder can trust, not just one that performs well in testing.
Financial Controls
Financial Modelling & Capital Budgeting
Modelling is where strategy meets arithmetic. I produced CapEx evaluation models and operational expenditure reports at DashboardWorx that gave commercial and financial services clients an evidence base for investment decisions. At La Trobe University, I extended that discipline into credit risk classification and algorithmic trading models, applying logistic regression and random forest techniques to financial decision problems. Each model is built to be interrogated, not just trusted.
Financial Reconciliation & Month-End Close
Month-end should be a checkpoint, not a fire drill. I managed accrual journal preparation, reconciliation workflows and reporting for rebates and supplier income at DashboardWorx, cutting reporting effort by 60% through automation initiatives. At Tana Water Works Development Agency, I processed and reconciled high-volume financial transactions while maintaining financial controls and data accuracy for more than 1,000 landowners, suppliers and contractors. Both roles taught me the same lesson: reconciliation discipline at scale is what protects an organisation's numbers, not just its books.
Audit, Compliance & Regulatory Reporting
Audit readiness is built months before an auditor ever asks for it. I compiled audit schedules and supporting financial documentation at Tana Water Works Development Agency that strengthened governance and regulatory compliance across African Development Bank-financed programmes. I carried that same discipline into donor accounting and regulatory reporting, work that demanded accuracy under external scrutiny rather than internal review alone. It is a discipline I hold onto regardless of sector, because the standard an auditor expects should already be the standard an analyst works to.
